Vata Taming Kitchari Spice Blend
Vata-Pacifying Kitchari Spice Blend Pre-Blended · 8 oz
Kitchari is Ayurveda's most complete meal — a simple, nourishing combination of split mung dal and basmati rice that is easy to digest, deeply satisfying, and used for everything from everyday eating to cleansing. But the spices are what make it medicine.
This blend is formulated specifically to pacify Vata — the dosha of movement, air, and space. Vata, when out of balance, shows up as anxiety, bloating, constipation, dry skin, restlessness, and a body that feels ungrounded and scattered. These spices work together to bring warmth, stability, and calm back to the system.
Every ingredient earns its place:
Fennel & Coriander calm and cool the digestive tract, easing bloating and gas — the classic signs of Vata digestive distress. Cumin kindles agni (digestive fire) gently and steadily, without overheating. Ginger brings warmth deep into the tissues, stimulates circulation, and soothes the gut lining. Turmeric reduces inflammation, supports the liver, and gives your kitchari its golden color. Cinnamon warms from the inside out, stabilizes blood sugar, and grounds scattered energy. Cloves are deeply warming and antimicrobial — a small amount goes a long way. Black Pepper activates the absorption of every other spice in this blend, making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Hing (Asafoetida) is Ayurveda's secret weapon for Vata digestion — pungent, powerful, and unmatched for relieving gas and bloating. Himalayan Salt balances and brings all the flavors together while supporting mineral absorption.
Benefits:
Kindles digestive fire without aggravating Pitta
Relieves bloating, gas, and Vata digestive discomfort
Warms and grounds the body and nervous system
Supports nutrient absorption and healthy tissue building
Nourishing during fall and winter, times of stress, or periods of depletion
How to use: Heat 1 tablespoon of ghee or coconut oil in a heavy pot. Add 1–2 teaspoons of the spice blend and stir for 30–60 seconds until fragrant. Add your rinsed mung dal and rice, stir to coat, then add water and cook until soft. Find our full Kitchari recipe here.
8 oz / Pre-blended / No fillers / No preservatives
Warm. Grounding. Exactly what Vata needs.
